This half-day qualification is designed to raise awareness of mental health and provide learners with the confidence to recognise when someone may be experiencing a mental health issue. It equips participants with the knowledge to identify common conditions, start supportive conversations, and signpost individuals towards appropriate professional help.
Suitable for all workplaces and community settings, this course helps create a more open and supportive culture around mental health.
What You Will Learn
Throughout the course, learners will explore:
• What is First Aid for Mental Health?
• How to identify suspected mental health conditions
• How to provide advice and start a supportive conversation
• Understanding stress and its impact
• An overview of common mental health conditions
Course Duration
The qualification requires a minimum of 4 hours of training. It is ideally delivered in one day, although it must be completed within two weeks of starting, with each session lasting at least two hours.
Assessment
Learners complete a written assessment consisting of open and multiple-choice questions to demonstrate their understanding of the course content.
Certification
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health. The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. Annual refresher training is strongly recommended. To renew the qualification after three years, the full course must be completed again.
